It was a night to honor American heroes.
John and Margo Catsimatidis hosted the WABC Radio and George Pataki Management Middle gala live performance to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of 9/11 Friday night.
Along with the useless, the occasion at Cipriani forty second Avenue honored the previous governor, alongside Cardinal Timothy Dolan and famed New York Put up columnist Cindy Adams.
Adams kicked off the night by introducing Dolan with a bit racy comedy. After organizers advised her she solely had two minutes to talk, she joked that the final time she heard “solely two minutes” was on her wedding ceremony evening.
“You didn’t hear that, did you?” she requested the cardinal.
Dolan opened the night with a prayer, studying Psalm 46. “God bless you and God bless this lovely night. God bless this metropolis and God bless America. Amen! Hallelujah! Thanks,” he stated.
Governor Pataki mirrored on September 11, 2001, telling Web page Six: “I feel 25 years later, it is essential that we honor the individuals who have been so brave that day, and within the weeks and months that adopted. And as way back as 25 years appears, it looks like yesterday.”
“And the sensation of loss – the sensation of horror, the assaults that we suffered, we simply need to honor the reminiscence of people who we misplaced, the reminiscence of those that responded so bravely and always remember,” he added.
WABC host Cousin Brucie hosted the occasion and Lee Greenwood sang “God Bless the USA”
Tony Orlando paid tribute to American troops in Iran by performing “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Across the Ole Oak” and Joe Piscopo led the room in singing Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”
Additionally in attendance have been former New York Governor David Paterson, former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, Nassau County Govt and gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. In the meantime, Gristides founder, WABC proprietor and actual property mogul Catsimatidis celebrated his birthday with Pataki becoming a member of him to blow out the candles because the room saluted America’s 250th birthday, we’re advised.
The gala raised $1.5 million for the George Pataki Management Middle, the New York Metropolis Police Athletic League, the Tunnel to Towers Basis and the WABC Basis.
Catsimatidis concluded the night by telling Web page Six: “Everybody wants to recollect that we’ll always remember 9/11, and everybody wants to recollect how offended the American persons are should you attempt to hurt our folks!
