King Charles and Queen Camilla put together for royal week in Scotland

The King and Queen will attend a sequence of engagements in Scotland this week as Royal Week begins.

Charles’s first engagement occurred within the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the place he would obtain a royal salute and examine a guard of honor offered by the Balaklava Firm, fifth Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland.

He’ll then be formally welcomed to the Scottish capital with the Ceremony of the Keys, throughout which Lord Provost Robert Aldridge will current the keys to the Metropolis of Edinburgh to the monarch, who will return them for safekeeping.

On Tuesday, Charles will preside over an investiture ceremony on the Palace of Holyroodhouse, earlier than he and Camilla welcome company to a backyard social gathering on the palace, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.

On Wednesday, Charles will journey to Jedburgh, within the Scottish Borders, the place he’ll attend a procession happening as a part of the city’s Jethart Callant competition. He may even be invited to begin the annual recreation of hand ba’, a road sport performed yearly within the metropolis since 1704.
